Contact Lens & LASIK Rejuvenation

For years, the drop-out rate of contact lens wearers, despite efforts to find the most comfortable materials, has steadily remained at 30%, and of those patients, only 50% report that they stopped using their contact lenses. For LASIK patients, 30-50% experience ocular surface disease immediately or years after the procedure. The EyeXcel Contact Lens & LASIK Rejuvenation Program may be what you need to get back to the carefree, convenient, and comfortable vision you desire after surgery and contact lens use.

Why Do People Drop Out of Contact Lenses?

So many people drop out of contact lens use because contact lenses can be downright uncomfortable. When you wear contact lenses, the surface of your eyes needs double the moisture to support this medical device. Your eyes need enough moisture to coat the front and back surface of the contact lens for a comfortable experience.

In order to have a healthy tear film, you need a blend of oil produced by your meibomian glands and aqueous tears. However, if your tear film is not healthy, you won’t have a comfortable experience with contact lenses.

Ocular Surface Disease After LASIK

Ideally, LASIK surgery will help clear up your vision and dismiss the need to wear contacts or glasses. However, this doesn’t mean that your eyes will be comfortable or that you will see clearly. Many patients experience ocular surface disease before and after their surgery. To truly benefit from LASIK, you need to have good tears and a healthy ocular surface.

Is Contact Lens & LASIK Rejuvenation Right For Me?

Upon your arrival, you’ll experience a warm greeting from your EyeXcel team who will showcase a suite of custom diagnostic technologies that will shine a light on and assist with the proper diagnosis of your concerns. Collecting this data is vital for maximizing your comfort and maintaining a healthy ocular surface.

Meibography

Meibography allows our optometrists to visually see your meibomian glands and assess their structure. Your meibomian glands produce the oil that makes up the lipid layer that is vital for the proper lubrication of your eyes. Medical devices, such as contact lenses, require twice the amount of lubrication to maintain clarity and comfort, so assessing their structure is essential to determining your appropriate treatment.

Topography

Corneal imaging assists in the custom design of the contact lens best-suited for your anatomy. This image depicts the presence of corneal diseases, irregularities, and lowers your risks of complications pre or post-refractive surgery.

Vision Break-Up Time

Our tear film has a lifespan of 10 seconds. Measuring your vision break-up time tells our optometrists how clear your vision is during that timeline. This test measures how frequently your vision blurs as the lifespan of your tear film fluctuates.

Rejuvenation Outcomes

At our Dry Eye Clinic, we have 3 outcome-driven programs that you can follow to finally experience the relief you need to live your life your way. The program that your optometrist will prescribe is dependent on the results of her diagnostic findings.

#1 – Rehabilitation Track

Your optometrist will prescribe the Rehabilitation Track if you have been diagnosed with severe rehabilitative findings. This track aims to improve comfort, clarity, and restoration of your eye health. Many patients on the Rehabilitation Track experience relief within 90 to 100 days or less of initiating the prescribed treatment.

Prescribed Treatment: Quarterly thermal pulsation treatments paired with four in-office lid cleanings, and a starter home therapy kit that includes: lid towelettes, a warming eye mask, and an oral omega supplement.

#2 – Revival Track

Your optometrist will prescribe the Revival Track if you have been diagnosed with moderate rehabilitative findings. The Revival Track improves comfort, clarity, and restoration of your eye health. Patients begin to experience relief within 60 to 90 days of initiating the prescribed treatment.

Prescribed Treatment: Bi-annual thermal pulsation treatment, one in-office lid cleaning, a starter home therapy kit that includes: lid towelettes, a warming eye mask, and an oral omega supplement.

#3 – Prevention Track

If you’ve been diagnosed with mild rehabilitative findings, your optometrist will prescribe the Prevention Track. Like the other programs, the Prevention Track improves comfort, clarity, and restoration of your eye health, and you should expect to find relief within 30 to 60 days of initiating the prescribed treatment.

Prescribed Treatment: annual thermal pulsation treatments, two in-office lid cleanings, a starter home therapy kit that includes: lid towelettes, a warming eye mask, and an oral omega supplement.
