Growing up in Knoxville, Dr. West knew of and heard praises from patients of Dr. Patton. She recalls meeting Dr. Patton at a local optometrist meeting; “He sat beside me in the back of the room, introduced himself, and immediately he made a joke that made me giggle. It’s easy to make me laugh but I enjoyed his personality from the start”. Thankfully, the “stars aligned” and Dr. Heather West joined the practice in October 2018 and then fully took over Dr. Patton’s patient base in February 2019.
From a young age, Dr. West had a keen interest in eyes because of her own eye condition, myopia. Pursuing her calling in life she graduated from Carson Newman University in 2005 and received her doctorate from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 2009. Dr. West completed external rotations at Clayton Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia, and with Dr. Steven Morris of Miami, Florida.
Dr. West practices primary eye care but also has particular interests in dry eye disease and specialty contact lenses. She is currently pursuing her fellowship in the Scleral Contact Lens Society. Dr. West is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians.
I had eye irritation and they got me in quickly, even though I wasn’t an established patient. Dr. West was thorough and professional. Great experience!
